Castrol has announced a new engine-lubrication design that could cut the time of an oil change to as little as 90 seconds.

The new system, which Castrol has dubbed Nexcel, is based around an oil cell that contains both the engine oil and oil filter.

Castrol says Nexcel is environmentally friendly and lowers carbon emissions.

Because the oil system must be integrated into vehicle engines at the design stage, it’s not expected to be available in vehicles for at least five years.
