Cuomo declares golf courses nonessential, local courses shut down indefinitely

(WETM) – New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has deemed golf courses to be a nonessential business during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Elmira City Manager Mike Collins tells 18 News that the Mark Twain Golf Course will be closed effective immediately to comply with the Governor’s order.

Local golf courses had prepared for the upcoming season by instituting new social distancing guidelines such as one person per cart and no putting greens.
