Corning held it’s 2nd Environmental Sustainability Camp for Kids

CORNING, N.Y. (WETM)- The City of Corning Parks and Recreation Department held its second Environmental Sustainability camp for children age 8 – 12 this past week.

The Environmental Sustainability Camp took place at the Corning Senior Center, Corning Community College, and the Civic Center plaza.

The camp provided participants knowledge on environmental sustainability using guest speakers and hands-on activities. Covered topics consisted of the importance of plants in our environment, how to properly recycle, and the impacts of pollution and littering on animal wildlife.

Participants had the opportunity to re-landscape two planters at the Civic Center Plaza, make self-sufficient terrariums, build their own composters, meet Corning Community College’s new Sustainability director and learn about different sustainable practices.
