(ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) ) — New York Sport & Fitness trainer Heather Maio is back with a new episode of Jump Start to Living Well. In this week’s episode she’s discussing myths about losing weight.

Heather says she hears a lot of rumors at the gym including if you want to lose weight you have to cut all carbs out of your diet, and Maio says that’s just not true and that carbs are full of antioxidants, fiber and it’s good for you.

If you find it naturally like potatoes or apples those types of carbs are good for you and your diet.

Another myth Maio breaks is “A calorie is a calorie”, quality matters. Where the calories come from make a huge different to our bodies, 700 calories of broccoli compared to 700 calories of soda will have way different effects to your body.

Not all healthy food tastes nasty, Heather says if you give certain foods a chance after a few weeks you may just realize that you really do enjoy those types of food and your taste buds may thank you.
