Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf signed a bill into law Sunday afternoon to legalize medical marijuana in the state.
Under the new law, patients can obtain medical marijuana for their children at authorized locations with a doctor’s approval. Governor Wolf’s office says the bill aims to alleviate pain and improve quality of life for people suffering from 17 serious medical conditions.
The law takes effect next month, but officials say it could take up to two years to open retailers.
Until then, a provision allows parents to legally buy medical marijuana from another state for their sick children.
