PAINTED POST, N.Y. (WETM) – The Corning-Painted Post 10/12 All-Stars are off to a good start in sectionals.

The District 6 champs defeated Oneida 14-0 in the first round of the double-elimination Section 1 East Tournament on Saturday at Ted Testa Park in Cortland. The team will play Vestal on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. in Cortland. Corning-Painted Post head coach Bob Price says the team will need to be on top of their game to be victorious on Tuesday against a talented Vestal team. “As long as they play together and play hard and play smart, if we can keep it close late I think we can knock this team off if we do what we’ve been doing all postseason,” said Price.

Corning-Painted Post won their first New York State District 6 Little League crown in decades last Tuesday with a 5-2 comeback win against unbeaten Horseheads.
