MANSFIELD, P.A. (WETM) – The Mansfield Destroyers have advanced to the next round of the NYCBL playoffs in their inaugural season.
The Destroyers defeated the Olean Oilers 4-3 in walk-off fashion at Shaute Field in a one-game playoff. Austin Schmitt singled to left on a pop fly and Blake Murray came into score the winning run for the Destroyers. Devan Nail hit a go-ahead two-run home run to left field in the sixth inning to give Mansfield a 2-1 lead. The Destroyers led 3-2 in the ninth inning when Jacob Victor scored on a wild pitch for the Oilers to tie the game at 3.
The Destroyers move on to the Divisional Championship Round to take on the Niagara Power in a best-of-three series. Game one is on Wednesday at Niagara at 6:00 p.m. The Destroyers will host the Power in game two at Shaute Field on Thursday at 5:20 p.m.
