Doug Barron wins Dick’s Sporting Goods Open

ENDICOTT, N.Y. (WETM) – Doug Barron has won a PGA Tour Champions event for the first time.

The Monday qualifier won the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open on Sunday at En-Joie Golf Club at -17. Barron was tied for the lead with Fred Couples when he made a birdie putt on the 15th hole to take the lead. Barron shot six-under-par in his final round to pick up his first PGA Tour Champions win in just his second start. Fred Couples made his way up the leaderboard on Sunday with a nine-under-par 63 and finished in second place at -15. Woody Austin finished in third place at -13. Colin Montgomerie and 2017 DSG winner Scott McCarron finished tied for 4th at -12.

Horseheads native Joey Sindelar shot four-under-par in his final round and finished the tournament tied for 24th at -6. Elmira native Mike Hulbert finished the tournament at 13-over-par.

For the second straight day play was suspended due to the weather but was restarted shortly after 6:00 p.m.
