ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – The Corning Hawks girls soccer team picked up an impressive win on the road on Thursday.
The Hawks held on for a 2-1 victory against seven-time defending STAC West champs Elmira. Freshman Ashlee Volpe scored the first two goals of the game in the first half to put Corning in front 2-0. Emily Hanrahan scored a goal late in the first half for the Express to cut the lead to 2-1.
Corning (3-1-1) is on the road against Johnson City on Monday at 5:00 p.m. Elmira (3-1-1) is on the road against Maine-Endwell on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
