ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – Mike Weaver continues his pro football journey.

On Saturday, Weaver connected on two big field goals in a 61-37 win over Columbus as the starting kicker for the Massachusetts Pirates. Weaver made field goals from 44 and 46 yards Saturday night. Weaver has been making big strides in the National Arena League (NAL) at kicker.

Already, Weaver’s racked up the top points-per-game average in the NAL, averaging 8.6. This season, Weaver’s made 31 of 40 extra point attempts and made two fields in five games in 2019.

The Pirates travel to New York this Friday night at 7 pm. You can watch the game for free on the Massachusetts Pirates YouTube live stream.

Weaver is a two-time All-ACC kicker out of Wake Forest, where he set the single-season scoring record in 2017. Mike was listed as a top undrafted free agent on NFL.com following his senior year. After Wake Forest, Weaver tried out for the now-defunct Alliance of American Football League and signed with the Arena Football League (AFL) in Baltimore.

Weaver was subsequently released from Baltimore after battling a foot injury but is now at full strength for Massachusetts.

18 Sports will continue to follow Weaver’s progress as it develops.
