Pioneers end losing streak

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – The Elmira Pioneers are back in the win column.

The Pioneers ended their six-game losing streak with a 8-2 win against the Watertown Rapids at Dunn Field in Elmira on Sunday. Elmira took a 1-0 lead in the third inning on an RBI groundout by Brody Moore. Corning grad Trevor Henneman hit a two-run single in the bottom of the eighth inning to put Elmira in front 8-1. Tom Cattaneo made the start for Elmira and didn’t allow an earned run in six innings of work and struck out three to earn the win.

The Pioneers (12-21) host the Oneonta Outlaws at Dunn Field on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m.
