SYRACUSE, NY (WETM)- The Orange came to play on Saturday in their season opener as they shut out the Liberty Flames.

Liberty’s head coach, Hugh Freeze, had an unusual season debut after recently getting back surgery he coached the flames from a press box in a hospital bed in order to assure his back had enough support.

None the less, Cuse was able to shut out Freeze’s Liberty team 24 to 0, with a great season opening performance.

Sophomore Quarterback, Tommy DeVito threw for 176 yards in his debut.

Senior running back Moe Neal also had an above-average debut as he led the team for rushing and passing yards.

Neal ended the day with 89 rushing yards and 54 receiving yards, along with a touchdown to top it all off.
