The Express fall short in a close home opener

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM)- The Elmira Express hosted Newburgh to kick off their regular season at home.

Newburgh was looking to get yards through the air towards the end of the game and Elmira was trying to gain hard earned yards on the ground.

Ultimately the strategy for Newburgh worked as it was a deep pass by Amarri Tice to Kendall Scott that gave Newburgh the lead and eventually the win.

Elmira loss this hard fought battle by less then a touchdown. The final score was 14-10.

Elmira’s next game will be at home next Saturday against Union-Endicott with a 1:30 p.m. start time.
