A 12-year-old boy nearly drowned on a school field trip Wednesday morning.
Shortly before 10:30 a.m., East Aurora police and fire officials responded to the Town of Aurora Community Pool for a possible drowning.
There, two lifeguards told police that the boy, a student of East Aurora Middle School, was underwater in the deep end of the pool “too long,” police say.
The lifeguards then pulled the boy out. At the time, he was unresponsive and not breathing.
A third lifeguard then started performing rescue breaths on the boy and he regained consciousness.
The boy was then taken to Oishei Children’s Hospital for evaluation.
