John Kessler makes his WETM-TV anchoring debut Wednesday.

Kessler began his broadcasting career at WGMF in Watkins Glen and WELM in Elmira.

He then went on to work in Detroit, Charlotte, and San Diego.

Kessler spent the past 30+ years anchoring and reporting in San Francisco for NBC and CBS-TV, as well as ABC Radio.

He received Emmy Awards for his live reporting of the Iraq War from Baghdad and for his anchoring in San Francisco.

His first major story was reporting live from Germany as the Berlin Wall came tumbling down.

Kessler has two sons, a big ol’ Golden Retriever named “Harley,” and lives in Burdett on Seneca Lake.

We hope you’ll join us in welcoming John to the 18 News team.
