ELMIRA, N.Y (WETM) – The Federal Building in Downtown Elmira will soon be home to a new Tap House.
The Ill Eagle Tap House will be opening very soon and will have a wide variety of craft and domestic beers as well as wines from the Finger Lakes and around the world.
Their interesting name is derived from the fact it is hosted in the Elmira Federal Building, which was once home to the only Federal Court in Upstate New York.
The Elmira Federal Building was built in 1902 and was also once used as a U.S. Post Office. It is on the National Register of Historic Places. The owners of the Tap House said that they were only updating the building as needed while also keeping the antique charm of the building present.
They will be having a soft opening in a few weeks and plan on having a grand opening later this month.
