A. O. Smith has announced multiple recalls for gas water heaters, according to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The following products are covered under the recall:

Ultra-Low NOx Water Heaters – The water heater’s gas burner screen develops tears. The water heater’s burner can then create excess radiant heat, posing a fire hazard if the water heater is installed directly on a wood or other combustible floor.

30-Gallon Gas Water Heaters model number G6-UT3030N – The water heater’s flame arrestor can fail to work properly, posing a fire hazard. (Sold exclusively at Lowes)

About 190 30-Gallon Gas Water Heater units are affected by the recall, and about 616,000 Ultra-Low NOx Water Heaters are covered by the recall.

Consumers should go to www.waterheaterrecall.com, input their model and serial number and complete the form to determine if their water heater is subject to this recall.
