UPDATE (4:06 p.m.): Chemung County Undersheriff Bill Schrom tells 18 News that the car involved had a tire blow out, causing him to veer across the road and into a utility pole.
No drugs or alcohol are believed to be involved, and no arrest was made, though tickets could be issued at some point.
Power and phones affected in the area could be restored later Friday night or Saturday morning.
Corning Road, aka the Miracle Mile, is shut down after a vehicle struck a utility pole outside a Dunkin Donuts around 8:30 a.m. on Friday.

State Police, Chemung County Sherrif, NYSEG, Elmira Heights Fire Department, and Erway Ambulance responded to the scene.
Northbound traffic is being pushed to Philo Road and southbound being pushed to Grand Central Road.
Power and phone outages have been reported in the area.
