Arc of Schuyler invests $1.75 million in transformation

The Arc of Schuyler will see a $1.75 million transformation in the next year. It’s part of the Arc’s Transformation 2020 campaign.

The Arc recently received approval from New York State to invest money to renovate and change its services for individuals across the region.

For the past three years, the Arc planned for the project after federal and state policies called to scrap all sheltered workshops by 2021. The state said sheltered workshops create segregated communities.

The Arc’s transformation will create a more inclusive environment for all people in the area.

“The purpose is to really transform our day services and make them more inclusive, and by that, I mean that we’re going to open our doors so that our services are available to people both with and without disabilities,” Jeannette Frank, Executive Director at the Arc of Schuyler, said.

The Arc is currently undergoing phase one of three, expanding and integrating a new manufacturing facility for all individuals to continue their work in packaging food items for Glen Copack

The last two phases will carry on throughout the next year, adding more building space and maximizing opportunities for individuals at the Arc.

The project is funded through grants and is looking to be competed by 2020.
