Arnot Health officially dedicates its new lactation room at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
The dedication ceremony Wednesday morning featured a ribbon cutting and the room is now officially open to nursing mothers including patients, staff, and visitors.
Hospital representatives say the room will give new moms a comfortable place to nurse their babies or express their milk while at the hospital.
“This is a real health movement, the NYS Department of Health has been encouraging hospitals and health departments alike to do everything we can to promote breastfeeding so this is just another way to promote and support breastfeeding and we at Arnot Health are so glad that this is happening today,” Nykole Parks, Community Health Services Manager at Arnot Health, said.
The new lactation room is possible thanks to support from the St. Joseph’s Hospital Nursing School Alumni Association.
