The Governor proposed cuts to AIM budget, including 13 municipalities from Steuben County alone.
It was proposed that the AIM budget be eliminated for municipalities that rely upon that AIM funding a little less than others in comparison to their overall budget.
After pushback, the Governor submitted an amendment, proposing that the county should make up the funding with sales tax, essentially having the counties fund a state issue.
The $250,000 proposed to be cut from Steuben County could trickle down to the residents by way of increased taxes or cuts in services.
Jack Wheeler, Steuben County Manager, spoke about it during our “Ask The Manager,” segment on 18 News @ Noon.
