The Elmira Police Department is warning residents of a scam involving two men claiming to be from Time Warner Cable in order to gain access to someone’s home.
Monday night around 9, two white men dressed in black knocked on the door of a Hathorn St. home saying they were from the cable company.
The resident did not let them in and called police.
The men were last scene leaving in a rusty, white work van.
Time Warner said its employees always carry identification and would never show up without an appointment or confirmation call.
