Binghamton University Student in Fatal Hit and Run Identified


Police are investigating the death of a Binghamton University student.They said 20-year-old Stefani Lineva of Queens, N.Y. was found lying on New York State Route 434 Saturday.

WBNG reported police were responding to a report of an individual lying in the roadway on Rt. 434 near the Pennsylvania Avenue exit around 2 a.m. That’s when they found Lineva lying against the concrete median in the eastbound lane.

Binghamton Police said her injuries were consistent with being hit by a vehicle. She was taken to Wilson Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Binghamton University officials said Lineva was a member of the tennis team there. It was her first semester on campus.

Police are asking anyone who may have been in the area around 2 a.m. Saturday morning to call them at (607) 772-7080.
