Police: One dead in motorcycle crash on I-86 in Horseheads

HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WETM) – Horseheads Police confirmed to 18 News that one person has died in a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 86 Thursday evening.

Around 6:30 p.m., the Village of Horseheads Police Department along with Horseheads Fire Department said they responded to an MVA on Interstate 86 westbound between exits 52A and 52B.

Horseheads Police said the crash resulted in the death of one person driving a motorcycle. Police did not release the identity of the victim killed.

They said the crash is still under investigation at this time, and no further information will be released.

HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WETM) – A portion of Interstate 86 Westbound, just past Horseheads, was shut-down Thursday evening after a major crash involving a motorcycle, according to our reporter on the scene.

Traffic was bumper-to-bumper and was being diverted. New York State Police tells us that the highway is closed between Exit 52A to 51A.
