Bus drivers now required to report child abuse in private schools

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed legislation enhancing reporting requirements for child abuse in private schools.

The law adds bus drivers to the list of mandated reporters of abuse in private schools.

Under current law, the governor’s office says bus drivers employed at public schools are required to report all allegations of child abuse. This new law corrects an inequity in the law by expanding that requirement to bus drivers employed by private schools.
