Long-time Elmira resident and business-owner Nick Grasso will enter the race for the Elmira City Council.
Grasso will run for the city’s first district, which is currently served by Councilman Jim Waters.
Grasso said some of the issues he wants to focus on include bettering relations between the city and Chemung County, tackling taxes, and streamlining city services.
“I can try to be the positive change in the community I care so much about,” Grasso said in a phone interview with 18 News. “You know, in hopes that we can make it better for my kids, and you know my neighbors and future generations.”
He said the people of the first district “deserve better transparency, accountability, and non-partisan leadership to effectively streamline services in the most efficient manner.”
Grasso’s official announcement is Monday, 3 p.m. at First Class Auto Detailing on West Washington Avenue.
