ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — Back in July, Caden Charnetski was found guilty of vehicular manslaughter. Chartneski was driving under the influence when he struck and killed a couple on a motorcycle in Horseheads back in 2018.
Passengers in Chartnetski’s vehicle at the time and they say he was driving erratically prior to the crash and law enforcement found marijuana in his vehicle.
The physician who attended to Chartnetski shortly after the accident, testified in court saying that the 19-year-old driver did not show signs of impairment from marijuana at the time of the health exams. Charnetski was 18 at the time of the accident so he may be granted a youthful offender status– which carries a maximum of 4 years in prison.
