Canadian man sentenced for Towanda DUI crash

Peter Joseph Kocher, 64, of Guelph Ontario, Canada, was sentenced to 22 months to 108 months after a 2017 DUI crash in Towanda Township.

The sentence was imposed for felony convictions of Aggravated Assault by DUI, Aggravated Assault by Vehicle, and a misdemeanor charge of Reckless Endangerment.

Pennsylvania State Police arrested Kocher following investigation of the incident and blood tests confirmed an alcohol level of .145.

Kocher vehicle crossed the center line and struck a vehicle operated by Charles Keeney of New Albany, who suffered leg fractures and was hospitalized.

Keeney died a week later due to rare complications from surgery
