Canisteo Police Club hosts first “Smoke in the Valley” barbecue

News

Kyle Amidon and Devan Bertch from the Canisteo Police Club stopped by 18 News Today to talk about an upcoming event, Smoke in the Valley.

This will be the first event of its kind, hosted by the Canisteo and Maple City Police Clubs. Volunteer chefs will compete to see who has the best barbecue. The public will get a taste to decide.

There will also be a number of breweries and cideries providing fresh samples. The Police Clubs said it is a way for them to give back to their communities and foster a positive connection between law enforcement and the public.

Tickets are on sale right now at the Canisteo and Hornell Police Departments. Tickets can also be purchased online from the Canisteo Police Club’s website. The event is still accepting vendors and competitors to participate.

Tickets are $20 and children under 12 are free. Proceeds benefit the police clubs. The event is Saturday, July 27 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Caniesteo American Legion.
