Celebrating libraries during National Library Week

Libraries, there’s a nostalgic feel about them yet they’re still around.

This week is National Library Week, with communities celebrating their local libraries.

From books, print materials, to digital content and educational services, libraries still continue to be centers of information and knowledge.

Even in the age of the internet and smart-phones, libraries still have strong support.

<RONALD SHAW: “Year’s ago when the internet came out, everybody said libraries were going to disappear,” Ronald Shaw, the Director for the Chemung County Library District, said. “Then there was the early phase of the E-books when everybody wanted to try them, but what we’re finding out is people are actually coming back for print materials now.”

You can also be part of the celebration all this week at any Chemung County Library District location. You’ll get a chance to spin a wheel and win prizes, and be entered to for a chance to win an iPad when checking out materials.
