Students at Center Street Elementary School teamed up with the American Red Cross to offer a helping hand during a local blood drive.
As part of the ‘Pint Size Heroes’ initiative, students helped distribute snacks and water to volunteers giving blood.
“It feels very important to be part of that, to get elected into this and be able to help all the people that need it,” Student Volunteer, Mickenzie Gryska said.
“It just makes me feel really important in knowing that you’re helping like a lot of people,” Student Volunteer, Jocelyn Capener said.
The program is designed to help children understand the importance of donating blood and how it can potentially save lives.
As a reminder, WETM and the American Red Cross are partnered again for their annual Day of Giving on Wednesday, December 16th from 11:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Those who are interested in donating blood can do so at the Corning Community YMCA, Elmira’s Blessed Sacrament Community Center, and the Horseheads American Legion Post 442.
