Chemung County Homeless Services offering helping hand to those in need

Chemung County Homeless Services says they can help.

If you are fleeing domestic violence, you can visit the Domestic Violence emergency shelter by calling the 24/7 Salvation Army Safehouse/ Domestic Violence Hotline at 607-732-1979. This is for  shelter, victim services and safety planning.

For non-residential domestic violence services and safety planning, you are urged to call the 24/7 Salvation Army Safehouse/ Domestic Violence Hotline at 607-732-1979 or the 24/7 Catholic Charities’ 1st Step Victim Services hotline at 607-742-9629.

If you are homeless, you are invited to come to Catholic Charities’ Samaritan Center, 380 South Main Street, Elmira.

The phone number is 607-734-4898, Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.– 4:30 p.m. and closed from 12 p.m.- 1:00 p.m.

They have Summer hours available: Closes at 4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.  They close at 1:00 p.m. on Fridays.

If you are at-risk of homelessness, you can call or come to the Samaritan Center. 

There are programs to help you prevent homelessness.
