Burke, 30, will star on a yet-to-be-announced variety show over at NBC next year, People reports. The series is said to have a competitive element, and Burke will perform on the show. Although the decision to leave Dancing with the Starswas difficult, “it was very clear the show only wanted me back as a dancer. They weren’t interested in using me for other things and letting me grow,” she told the magazine.
Burke joined the series in its second season and won mirror-ball trophies, Dancing‘s top prize, in Seasons 2 and 3. Shelast appeared on Dancing With the Stars on Nov. 25, the same day her contract with the show expired. The longtime pro hinted to TVGuide.com back in October that she was likely saying farewell to the reality competition series.
“As of now, it’s still up in the air if I’m coming back or not. Contractually, my contract is over and there’s other opportunities that have been out there for me,” Burke said. “Will it most likely be my last season? I would have to say yes.”
