City of Elmira to vote on increasing parking violation fines

The City of Elmira is looking into raising the fines for unpaid parking meter violations.

The city council discussed this resolution in a workshop Thursday morning at City Hall. The current fine is $10, but if the resolution passes, the fine would jump to $15.

“When you park in the downtown, we welcome you here, but please don’t violate the parking ordinance,”City of Elmira Mayor Dan Mandell, said. “If you get two-hour parking, follow that ordinance or if it’s one hour parking, please follow that.”

The resolution will be voted on during Monday’s City Council meeting at 5:30.
