UPDATE (8/18/18 7:50 PM):

Thanks to those of you who participated in this years Clear the Shelters event 79 pets were able to find their forever homes here in the Twin Tiers.

The annual event Clear the Shelters takes place tomorrow to give homes to shelter animals across the nation.

Here in the Twin Tiers is no exception and many local animal shelters are once again joining in this national effort to ‘clear the shelters’ and give fur-ever homes to thousands of animals nationwide.

“All adoption fees are waived for the day,” says Arynn Brucie from the Chemung County SPCA, “some of them have been sponsored in advance so we’re not losing out on the adoption fee, all cats, kittens, we have a 7 month old terrier mix, we should have 5 or 6 dogs available and an adoption room full of cats.”

If you would like to adopt from any participating shelter, click here for a full list of shelters.

Each shelter’s adoption requirements and process varies. Please make sure to review each shelter’s requirements before planning to adopt.
