Connecticut Senator Blumenthal Calls on Directv and At&T U-Verse to Accept Nexstar’s Extension Offer to Immediately Restore Carriage of Network and Local Community Programming

Direct TV continues to black out WETM-18, as well as dropping network stations across the country.  Connecticut Senator Blumenthal is urging Direct TV to accept Nexstar’s extension offer to immediately restore the stations, which includes WETM-18.  Nexstar has yet to receive a response from Direct TV regarding its extension offer.  As Senator Blumenthal notes, “This cutoff seems to have the sole purpose of enhancing DirecTV bargaining leverage – with severe harm to Connecticut consumers”.  This of course is also affecting consumers right here in the Twin Tiers, as they no longer have access to WETM-18.

WETM-18 remains free over-the-air, and on all other local satellite and cable providers.  Nexstar in no way pulled its stations or asked for their removal from Direct TV.  If you’re affected by the blackout, contact DIRECTV at 855-567-1569 and tell them you want WETM back.  For more information, log on to
