Francis Eugene Vanderpool, who was convicted for the 1965 murder of his wife Veronica Vanderpool, died in the Fayette State Correctional Institution while serving a life sentence.
Vanderpool was 72-years-old, and no cause of death was provided.
According to court documents, an 18-year-old Vanderpool admitted to a State Trooper that he shot his wife and buried her at his foster parents home. He was sentenced to life in 1966 by Judge James Cullen.
The Department of Corrections has reported Vanderpool’s to the Bradford County District Attorney’s Office.
