Corning firefighter Chris Willis returns home after auto accident


Corning firefighter Christopher Willis spent the holidays at home nearly one month after an intoxicated driver struck a car carrying Willis, his mother, and his girlfriend in Newfield, N.Y.

According to the “Blue Lives Matter – Twin Tiers” Facebook page, Willis returned home on Dec. 21 and thanks everyone for their thoughts and prayers.

Willis had been listed in critical condition following the accident and was listed to be in fair condition on Nov. 30. 

Andrew Sampson, the second driver involved, was arrested and charged with the felony of Vehicular Assault in the first degree, the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated and the violation of Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.  He was also issued several traffic tickets.  

According to the Newfield Town Clerk, the case has been adjourned to January 16, 2019.
