Corning’s Food Truck Rodeo to benefit United Way

News

The first Food Truck Rodeo held by Corning Incorporated and the United Way of the Southern Tier will be held on Thursday, July 18.

Four local food trucks will line the parking lot of the Little Joe tower by Corning Inc. Headquarters.

The food trucks include Macarollin’ with gourmet macaroni and cheese, Slammin’ Jammin’ BBQ, Ben & Jerry’s ice cream and Gramp’s Funnel Cakes and Fried Dough.

The public is invited to enjoy yard games, like cornhole, and music beginning at 11 a.m. running through 2 p.m.

“Corning and the United Way have been working together for several decades, so we’re very excited to be continuing that momentum,” MaryKatherine Cornfield, marketing communications for Corning Glass Technology at Corning Inc. said. “I’m hoping that this event will be another staple event for the United Way and Corning to be working together.”

Cornfield said 20 percent of proceeds from the food trucks will be donated to the United Way.

“The funds will help the community,” Lois Wilson, spokeswoman for the United Way said. “We focus on health, education, and just the well being of our neediest neighbors and try to make sure that all those needs are met in the community.”
