For this week’s Diner Politics segment, we tackled a complicated issue – illegal immigration.
Questions regarding the country’s immigration policy continue to be raised in the wake of the murder of 20-year-old Mollie Tibbetts.
24-year-old Christhian Bahena Rivera, an undocumented immigrant from Mexico, is being charged with first-degree murder in her death.
The charge was announced just hours after authorities discovered Mollie’s body on a farm east of her hometown of Brooklyn, Iowa.
A massive search had been underway for Mollie since July 18th, the day she vanished while on a routine evening jog in Brooklyn.
The latest in this case: Tibbetts’ murder has been ruled a homicide resulting from multiple sharp force injuries, according to the autopsy report that was released yesterday.
We spoke to local residents at the Sugar and Spice Restaurant in Horseheads to hear what your neighbors had to say about the issue. We also got a lot of reaction on our Facebook post, and we highlighted some of those comments in the segment – take a look.
