The Twin Tiers was hit hard by storms on Friday.
That same storm has left some in the borough of Elkland in an evacuated state.
The storm has come and gone, yet the question still remains, where do we go from here?
It’s safe to say some were disappointed with tonight’s meeting. Many believed FEMA or PEMA would come in and give them flood relief, but there’s no help.
Because the area is not a flood plain, most do not have flood coverage, leaving them patch up the holes themselves. However, they aren’t entirely alone; they have each other.
For now, water has been deemed safe to use. The sewer should be used sparingly and any moment, sand is due to come in tonight.
Regardless of all that’s going on, this community is still standing strong. Proving that even in the midst of chaos, we all need each other.
PEMA will be in at some point to start accessing damage. Another meeting has been scheduled for next week.
