Elmira City School Board President Randy Reid announces his candidacy for New York’s 124th Assembly district Wednesday night.
Reid will run as an Independent, saying that he wants to make the 124th district a player in Albany and make the most of the recent economic revitalization money awarded to the region.
“I’d been thinking about it for a while and back in 2010 I was approached about running for the Assembly and I couldn’t do it,” said Reid.
“But now that I’ve freed up my time with my kids out of the house, I’m able to do it.”
Reid says he will also use his experience as a small business owner to provide a voice for “Main Street” in Albany.
The 124th District covers most of Chemung County and all of Tioga County.
