Elmira Enforcers depart for FHL Championship series

Robbie Nichols

In their inaugural season the Elmira Enforcers are preparing for game one of the Commissioner’s Cup championship finals where they’ll take on the league’s number one team, the Carolina Thunderbirds.

Led by the FHL’s all-time scoring leader Ahmed Mahfouz, the Enforcers are coming off a sweep of the Watertown Wolves in the semi-finals.

Elmira took home a record of 28-20-5-5 and had the second-best point differential in the FHL with a +51.

The team they’re facing topped the league in most offensive categories and clinched a playoff berth before any other team. The Carolina Thunderbirds won an astounding 48 games and lost only six times in regulation as they entered the playoffs as heavy favorites.

Game one of the series is Friday night in Carolina with puck drop at 7:05 p.m. and game two follows on Saturday night.

The Enforcers then return home Friday, April 26 for game three, and a potential game four would be Sat. April 27.

If necessary, game five would return the series to Carolina on Tues. April 30.
