Elmira Little Theatre is holding open auditions for a new play called, “Legend of the Gathers.”
According to http://www.elmiralittletheatre.org/legend-of-the-gathers-auditions it “tells the story of a mysterious young shop assistant who accidentally created one of the most prominent glass inventions of the 19th Century: the light bulb.”
And to this day, it is unclear the identity of the assistant.
Each year, during the “Days of Incandescence”, lights and young “Gathers” appear throughout Corning’s Gaffer District for the anniversary of the invention of the light bulb.
If selected as part of the production, you will give historic tours of Corning’s Gaffer District, acting as a resident of Corning from 1879 to 1880.
The tours will provide historically accurate information about Corning’s history, and will share elements from the mysterious story of the Legend of the Gathers.
Auditions are scheduled for September 27th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
