The annual Finger Lakes Cheese Festival is the perfect fix for all the cheese lovers out there.
Today was the seventh annual festival to celebrate 12 members of the Finger Lakes Cheese Alliance
This group of cheese makers displayed their products for people to try out their different types dairy products.
Close to 8,000 people from not only around the Finger Lakes, but around the world, gathered at Sunset Creamery in Odessa, N.Y.
“We do it so that we give some benefit to our members of the Cheese Alliance, so the only people who can sell cheese here are alliance members,” Carmella Hoffman, owner of Sunset View Creamery, said.
“This event, that we have behind us, is a wonderful way for people to come out and experience all of the products of all the members of the Finger Lakes Cheese Alliance, all in one place,” Mark Costa, Communications Coordinator for the Finger Lakes Cheese Festival, said.
“We have so much fun with the people that come to this event, everybody really appreciates trying our organic cheeses,” Lisa Engelbert, a member of the family owned Engelbert Farms, said.
The event featured 70 other vendors from farmer’s markets and local businesses in the area.
Music, hay-rides and other activities allowed for more family-fun. Next year’s festival will be held on July 27th, weather permitting.
