Finger Lakes region to recieve $10.1 million to protect farmland

A record breaking $35 million has been awarded to 40 farms across 19 counties to protect 13,000 acres of agricultural land throughout New York state.

The money helps make sure the land will only be used for farming purposes moving forward, and that farmers who go to sell their property get a fair price from the buyer. 

The program is funded through New York State’s environmental protection fund in the state budget. the Finger Lakes region has been awarded $10.1 million, for eight projects totaling 4,089 acres.
