FRIDAY SUNSET: 4:37 PM

Winter Weather Advisory in Tioga County, PA until 1 PM. Spotty, light mixed precipitation expected. A light glaze of ice possible Friday morning.

Wake up temperatures Friday morning begin in the 20s and 30s with light winds out of the southeast, anywhere from 0-5 mph. A light wintry mix of snow and ice moves in early, overspreading parts of central NY and NE PA, reaching the I-81 corridor by daybreak. As the mid-level of the atmosphere continues to warm, there could be pockets of sleet  or freezing rain during the morning hours around the NY/PA border. A slightly stronger wave moves through late morning through the afternoon and will keep the wintry mix of rain/freezing rain/snow in the forecast. Total snowfall accumulation will be less than half an inch for areas in the valley, whereas higher amounts of snow and ice will be for areas of higher elevation. Skies remain mostly cloudy today and temperatures stay chilly through the afternoon, with highs reaching the mid to upper-30s. Winds stay light out of the south through the day which helps draw in the moisture to the Twin Tiers.

A rain/snow/ice mix lingers this evening but the weather pattern turns mainly quiet overnight as the system moves off to the east. This leaves us with cloudy skies and cold temperatures, in the low-30s.

Trending a bit warmer for the weekend. Saturday is looking cloudy with highs near average in the low-40s. Rain looks to move in for the afternoon hours Saturday and last into the early afternoon hours Sunday. Much warmer for Sunday before a frontal boundary draws near, with additional light rain showers possible. Highs on Sunday look to reach the mid 50s. Temperatures will continue to drop through early next week.
