High pressure slides to the east early Wednesday morning, and the focus is on two areas of low-pressure that will bring a wintry mess Wednesday afternoon and evening. Temperatures begin in the teens and low-20s so any precipitation seen in the mid-morning hours will be in the form of snow.  The moisture continues to track northeastward, impacting the Southern Tier by the afternoon. Winds will shift out of the south, helping temperatures warm to the low to mid-30s this evening. As temperatures hover around freezing, a mix of freezing rain, sleet, snow, and patchy freezing drizzle is possible by the evening hours.

Temperatures will be on the rise overnight, and patchy showers continue, manly in the form of rain. Total snowfall amounts for the Northern Tier range anywhere from 1-3″. Whereas a trace to 1″ of snow is expected for the Southern Tier. A light glazing of ice is also expected, which may impact travel into early Thursday morning. Total ice amounts will be around a tenth of an inch.

Low pressure moves northeast and lingering showers possible for Thursday. High temperatures reach the mid-40s. High pressure takes hold by Friday keeping us dry for the end of the work week and through most of Saturday with a mixture of sunshine and clouds expected. Watching the next potential storm system that appears to arrive for the second half of the weekend.
