AVERAGE LOW FOR FEBRUARY 5TH: 16°

TUESDAY SUNRISE: 7:16 AM

TUESDAY SUNSET: 5:27 PM

Sprinkles are possible early Tuesday as a weak cold front continues to move eastward. Winds will shift to the northwest by the afternoon hours, ushering in cooler and drier air. Scattered clouds to start but clouds will decrease through the afternoon as weak high pressure builds in from Canada. Temperatures will continue to drop in the wake of a cold front. High temperatures will top out in the mid to upper-40s early in the day.

The weather pattern remains quiet through Tuesday night. Skies clear which allows temperatures to drop to the low-20s early Wednesday morning. There are some concerns as temperatures fall below freezing. Melted snow may refreeze and create slippery and slick conditions along roadways and sidewalks. Definitely, something to look out for!

Moisture races into the Twin Tiers early Wednesday, and with enough cold air in place, freezing rain and ice will be a concern for Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday evening. A light glazing of ice is possible on roads and sidewalks, less than a tenth of an inch. Higher amounts of ice will be for areas of higher terrain and areas to the east of the I-81 corridor. Any precipitation seen in the afternoon will turn mainly to rain Wednesday as temperatures rise slightly above freezing. High temperatures Wednesday approaching 40 degrees in the afternoon. The chance for rain continues Thursday. Rain turns to snow showers Friday to round out the work week. Close to average highs for Saturday and Sunday with some sunshine to kick off the upcoming weekend!
