AVERAGE HIGH FOR MARCH 7TH: 41°

AVERAGE LOW FOR MARCH 7TH: 20°

THURSDAY SUNRISE: 6:33 AM

THURSDAY SUNSET: 6:04 PM

The main weather story today is below average temperatures across the Twin Tiers. Waking up this morning temperatures are in the single digits and teens. We will see some sunshine returning on Thursday, with high temperatures reaching the mid to upper 20s. Winds will begin to pick up after sunrise out of the northwest 10-20 mph. This will not only allow wind chill values to be frigid in the single digits and below zero at times, but it will also allow for lake effect snow showers to set up into the afternoon.

The chance for snow showers continues into the early evening before dissipating, any snowfall accumulations expected less than half an inch. We then see clearing conditions into tonight as high pressure builds into the region. These clearing conditions and calm winds will allow temperatures to plummet close to zero degrees once again.

We look to stay dry into Friday and Saturday as high pressure takes control and temperatures warm back up near average in the 30s Friday to near 40 degrees on Saturday. The chance for stray snow showers into Friday afternoon is possible, but looking very scattered in nature. But we then track our next low pressure system moving towards the Twin Tiers into late Saturday lasting into Sunday. Depending on temperatures when the precipitation involved with this system arrives, it will depict weather we see a wintry mix or just all rainfall. Right now it looks like we begin with a wintry mix late Saturday and then transitions over into all rain for Sunday. Winds out of the south will continue to usher in warmer air, with Highs on Sunday looking to reach 50 degrees.
